Visual Perception and Size Illusions

Visual Perception and Size Illusions

About This Video

In this video, Dr. Scott Murray from the University of Washington explains the basic processes underlying visual perception. He emphasizes the goal of visual perception - the interpretation of a proximal stimulus in terms of the what is out there in the world. His recent research illustrates that even early visual areas, such as V1, show biases towards the final perceptual interpretation of the stimulus and do not just represent a pure copy of the incoming sensory stimulation.
